To define cell populations, click the "Gate" button within the orange "Populations" Figure Dimension box on the Illustration page. A Java-based gating applet will load, and the first of your files will be displayed. Use the pull-down menu or the arrows to scroll through your files. You can also change the plot display type by clicking the "Plot Settings" button.
Use the shape buttons listed at the top of the applet to draw particular gate shapes to define populations. To define a population as a sub-populaton stemming from another gate, draw the parent gate, then select it under the "Active Population" drop-down menu, then draw the child gate. For example, you might first draw an Intact Cells scatter gate, then select the Intact Cells gate under the Active Population drop-down menu, and then draw a gate around CD3+ cells. The CD3+ cells population would be a sub-populaton of Intact Cells (not of Ungated cells). To view your gating hierarchy, click the View button in the Populations box on the lower left of the gating applet page.
