  • Log in to Cytobank and get to the experiment inbox.  Click on the link called "Create a New Experiment". It is on the left navigation bar.

Enter the following in the section called "Bank New Experiment:"

    • *Give your experiment a descriptive name.
    • If needed, select a "Project" for this experiment. Your default project might already be selected if you have set that up through your profile.
    • *Your name should automatically be filled in for Primary Researcher. Click on the name (or picture) to change the primary researcher.
    • *Your "PI/Manager" should already be selected if you specified this through your profile. If not, your name will be displayed. Click on the name to change the PI. If you want your PI to have full access to this experiment, check the box for "Allow PI/Manager to have full access to experiment".
    • If applicable, select the kit used in the experiment.
    • *In "Purpose", type a brief purpose for your experiment.
    • In "Comments", type any notes or caveats for your experiment.
    • *Click "Create".

You'll be taken to the "Upload Experiment Files" page.

    • Click on "Browse for Folder". You'll see a popup with your computer's folders.
    • Select the folder that contains your experiment files. Note: you want to select the folder, not the files within the folder.
Now you should see a list of the files, each of which has a checked checkbox.
    • Alternatively, you an drag and drop files into the center of the upload area.
    • Click "Upload Selected Files". The "Upload Progress" bar will show the status of the upload.

When the files are uploaded, you'll see the categorization page. This is your chance to make sure all the files were uploaded and to sort out compensation and other control files, if necessary. Also, for each FCS file uploaded the following will be displayed: a mini plot of the first two channels, the file name, a sample name (if entered at the cytometer), the size of the file, the number of events in the file, and the md5sum. These will be useful to verify that files were uploaded correctly.

    • Click on "View Experiment Summary" to go to the experiment summary page.
    • Click on "Start An Illustration" to skip the summary page and get started with analysis.

    * - These steps are mandatory when creating a new experiment and uploading data
