Annotation templates for samples and sample sources may be created in order to simplify and speed up MIFlowCyt annotation. Templates contain common annotations that can be applied on specific samples. For example, for biological sample sources, MIFlowCyt requires details such as description, organism, age, gender, phenotype, genotype, treatment, etc. Say that your sample sources are normal human donors that differ in their gender and age but everything else is believed to be the same. You can create an appropriate annotation template, fill out all the common details and leave the gender and age out of the template. Later on, when annotating the list mode data files of your experiment, you will be able to easily create sample sources based on this template and you will only have to provide the gender and age that differs among the subjects.
